Well, that was quick. A few days ago I posted that a Wiccan Circle area was being dedicated at the Air Force Academy. Now there is an article that it has been desecrated already. Someone has placed a cross on it. To some this may seem like a small thing. But as the article points out, this would be like placing a pentacle inside the Christian Chapel. I wonder if Freedom of Religion will ever be a reality. It starts with respect for all beliefs and a realization that we all hold the same fundamental spiritual values. So my friends, what are some of your thoughts on this? Is it possible to eliminate fear and hatred when it comes to Religious Beliefs? Do those who are reading this hold anger toward other faiths? Could something happen to change how you feel? Freedom of Religion. Is it possible?

This falls right in line with my sociology project I mentioned earlier today. I like to think that religious tolerance will be possible. However, my experience has shown me that the majority of people who have a set form of religious beliefs have developed such a security around those beliefs that they cannot see that there are multiple paths to gain a greater spirituality. There is a sense that if I am right, then you have to be wrong. I'm kind of a geek sometimes so I like to equate it to math...If 100 is spiritual enlightenment, think of all the ways you can get to 100. Just because you were taught 10x10=100 and I was taught 50+50=100 doesn't mean either one of us is right or wrong. We just approach the same end by different paths. I do not see the elimination of fear or hatred of religious beliefs happening in our lifetime (not this one anyway). However, each generation has the opportunity to make small steps towards marginalizing that intolerance and making acceptance the mainstream culture.
